Down
by the river,
Beneath
the pail moonlight,
We
were wonderfully blessed,
With
a truly rare sight.
We
waited all day,
For
the myth to appear,
Our
hearts full of hope,
Our
minds full of fear.
The
hour grew late,
And
we started to leave,
Then
we saw through the brush,
Something
we couldn’t’ believe.
A
beautiful creature,
Whose
mane was pure white,
And
a golden horn on her head,
That
seemed to glow in the light.
So
cautiously she moved,
Toward
the river to drink,
Neither
my friend nor I,
Knew
what to think.
Her
beauty was great,
But
gleam filled her eye’s.
And
we were much saddened,
When
we had to say ‘bye.
We
never told one,
What
we had seen,
For
we knew that others,
Might
be quite mean.
In
our hearts that day,
A
great love was born,
We’ll
always remember,
That
golden unicorn.
