The Gift That Had Been Taken

Years ago I had a gift,

For writing poetry.

I wrote about love and life,

The words came so easily.

One day I sat to write some more,

But nothing came to mind.

My inspiration left me,

No passion left to find.

Blank pages stared back at me,

My gift it seemed had gone.

No words of deeper meaning,

No verses, rhyme, or song.

Through our conversations,

And your sincerity,

The gift that had been taken,

You returned to me.

The passion was rekindled,

The words began to flow.

The happiness you brought me,

You may never know.

The artist that's within me,

Needs fruit to stay alive.

The fruit of love and passion,

Lets the artist in me thrive.

You brought a full basket,

Of fruit that my soul needs.

The gift that had been taken,

You gave right back to me.
