The Alpine Loop

I don’t know what it meant to you,

It was a great beginning to me.

The drive we took the other day,

Set my captured spirit free.

I noticed the color of the leaves,

As they fell softly to the ground,

They were the color of your hair,

An angelic golden-brown.

I felt the coolness of the breeze,

The shivers it sent down my spine,

Are much like the ones I get,

When thoughts of you fill my mind.

As we drove through that mountain pass,

I listened intently to your voice,

I would have stopped time right there,

If God had made it my choice.

The trip, however, was destined to end,

And time will never stop,

But the experience has raised my spirit,

Higher that that mountain top.

I know that we are just beginning,

A relationship is far away,

But my soul is no longer dormant,

Because of our trip that day.
