If
you had just one wish, what would it be?
Of
all the things you think you want, what do you really need?
Money,
fame, and fortune, are things that one might think,
But
so many people would only ask for food, and water to drink.
As
you sit this very day, with food and drink in hand,
With
a place to lay your head, and a place to stand.
What
is it that you might wish to make your life complete?
Is
it warm clothes, a blanket, or shoes to warm your feet?
If
it’s not, then let me say that you are blessed indeed.
If
food, clothes, and shelter, are not your basic need.
Think
more about what wish you make, think not about just “me”.
Think
about the ones who live with much more basic needs.
Make
you’re wish for someone else, who might not have a chance,
To
make a wish for wealth or fame, because of circumstance.
Make
a wish for those of us, that have not had the luck,
Make
your wish for ones who’s lives in turmoil have been stuck.
Say
I need nothing that really means a lot to me,
But
I do wish for others that I know are in great need.
Please
give them food and clothing, give them rest and peace,
Give
them a place to lay their head and a blanket, at least.
Warm
them with the knowledge that we think of them as well,
Lest
we be too selfish and live in our own hell.
